Mitch and Mark's Oak TV-Mirror on The Block
Mitch and Mark looked to create a soft and earthy space in their Master Bedroom this season on The Block.
They introduced one of our custom made TV-Mirrors into the room and it made a huge impact, opening up the space and creating harmony with the furnishings and finishes.
In Mitch and Mark's second season on The Block, we created another TV-Mirror for the pair! In 2019, Mitch and Mark opted for a TV-Mirror in their Living Room and they selected a striking gold leaf frame. This year, they looked to create a softer, earthier home on The Block and you'll love what they came up with!
We loved the opportunity to assist Mitch and Mark with another TV-Mirror this season of The Block. Having sourced one of our TV-Mirrors previously, they knew exactly how the TV-Mirror worked in disguising the TV and they had an idea of what style they wanted to achieve in the frame design.
Mitch and Mark came in store to see our full range of frame options available. They decided on the Modern Rustic Oak Frame, which was the perfect tone of oak to complement their timber bedside tables and timber accents in the space, bringing warmth to their interiors.
Mitch and Mark styled their bedroom interiors with soft furnishings and cabinetry in soft colours of green and teal. It was very clever of them to choose the timber oak so that this earthy timber Mirror TV would help tie in the timber oak bedsides.
This frame on the TV-Mirror also helped achieve a gradual flow through the space, as you enter the walk in wardrobe, where you see the same oak timber-look in their built in cabinetry.
Mark and Mitch enjoyed the aspect of disguising the TV in the bedroom with a TV-Mirror, but they also loved the difference the mirror made in opening up the room to feel larger.
"Our builders built an alcove based on the measurements of the TV-Mirror so we recessed the wall mount into the wall, with only the frame sitting proud off the wall. This is something I would encourage anyone who is renovating or building to take the extra step and consider doing. It really looks just like a beautiful mirror above the dresser… until you turn it on,” Mitch told The Block Shop.
One of the benefits of researching and sourcing a TV-Mirror for a renovation or new build is how you can prepare the space for a TV-Mirror.
For a seamless installation, with the TV-Mirror's measurements provided, Mitch and Mark's builders were able to construct an alcove to have the wall mount recessed into the opening, with the frame sitting proud of the wall. As each and every TV can be slightly different, its advised that this final measurement is provided on completion of your TV-Mirror. The alcove needs to offer ample 'breathing space' around the back of TV-Mirror, as well as space to allow the sound to travel. If too tight, the sound may be muffled, if too large, the TV-Mirror may not extend wide enough to sit on the outside of the alcove.
