"This time of year always reminds me of when I was on the road travelling around the country shooting my pitch for my interiors book, which would go on to be Shelter. I hit the road in autumn to shoot a sampler of what I was seeing in my imagination. I was driving the back roads in country Victoria, to be honest I couldn’t tell you where, when I saw this apple orchard from the corner of my eye. I pulled over and grabbed my camera, jumping a couple of fences to get closer to this glorious scene.
The apples were hanging on the branches like little red ruby jewels. It was so enchanting I couldn’t believe it. I hadn’t spent much time in orchards before and I was surprised by how magical and fertile it felt to be close to fruit dangling on the tree. Such a simple pleasure." Kara Rosenlund
